"best before 31Aug07" was the tagged affixed to a jar of mint jelly I opened a fortnight hence.
ReplyDeleteNow Nelly, who in Sam Hill's name writes that sort of literary garble on a jar of jelly? Was it really that delicious or a clever ploy to add flavor to an otherwise ordinary batch of quince?
Well, your name would indicate you are somewhat of an expert. And the best-before date of your mint jelly would indicate that you are a bold adventurer in these matters. Did you enjoy it with some lamb?

Hello, Paddington Bear here! Even though I'm a rare sort of bear, my condiment of choice is marmalade, and it doesn't have to be from Darkest Peru. So I recommend you abandon your Quince jam and mint jelly and instead try my favourite: marmalade!

When I was young, every orange cat I knew was named Marmalade. Not that I knew that many, but still...
