If I Don't Make it Back Out...

... take the huskies and go without me.

When I disappear into this store in downtown Toronto... well, you can see the dilemma. Hours can be spent here, so can dollars. Many dollars.

Open Air Books and Maps has been around for a long time. It is tucked into a basement store at 25 Toronto Street. Behind its big black door lurks a plethora of books aimed at travellers, nature lovers, and ecologists.

When I lived in eastern Iowa, many and varied bookstores dotted the landscape, including a sprawling, pleasantly cluttered one specializing in used books. It had many comfy chairs and two cats roaming the aisles, and was, needless to say, a great place to spend an entire Saturday.

Where I live now...sigh. There's a decent (not spectacular) used book store, plus the standard issue Borders and Barnes & Noble and not much else. No decent music stores here, either.

This looks very much like my favorite second hand bookshop! In fact, I went last Friday and I forgot to take my camera! Next time. I could disappear in there for a few days, too! :)

Pretty new header!!!

We used to have a bookstore in town very much like this. Unfortunately, the owner passed away and it is now a coffee shop or something. But, like you, I used to spend hours in here. I always found it took me that many more hours before the crick in my neck went away. Tiny aisles, tall tall shelves.

I don't know if my budget could stand a visit to such a dangerous place! :)

Hang on! A search party is on the way. Oh... wait... what's that over there...a first edition? Sorry BPG... we will be there eventually...

Love the new header!

This takes me back to my youth - there used to be so many fab shops like this on Charing Cross Road, alas, now they have mostly gone.
I used to love the excitement of not knowing what you'd find.

Hopefully no earthquakes while you are browsing!

It's a shame the big box book stores have more or less done in the kind of place you've found.

If we ever loose Willow, I would guess she is in here with you!

Well, I can definitely understand your dilemma and what's more I can sympathise with you because I suffer from the same condition! I think they call it bookastritis.

Enjoy your book shopping spree.

Greetings from London.

Oh no! You posted the address. Think I can borrow your search party?

Rounding up the Husky's now. Both of you hang on...we'll have blinders on.

Wow, an armchair traveller's delight! (That's me, "A.T."!)

Hey, you never lose your luggage being one!

I've got loads of this new perfume on (anniversary gift). The huskies won't be able to track me now! I'll just dive into this interesting looking stack. Heehee.

Well I think we're all of one mind regarding the irresistability quotient on this sort of store. :)
