The Following Post Contains Language that Some Readers Might Find Objectionable

I love cooking shows, no two ways about it. But the shows I'm drawn to more and more are not the Food Network ones, but those homey PBS ones, with quiet hosts who don't seem entirely at home in front of the camera, who are obviously fine chefs, with soft voices. They're full of wisdom and great cooking tips and have no special theme tunes, soundtracks, crazy camera angles or personalities that get in the way of the food. Like the sort of waiters I like: informative, there, but not in your face.

Begone huge personality chefs! I'm tired of you! I'm tired of being warned that the following cooking program contains language that some viewers might find objectionable. This is a cooking show you morons! FUCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!!!

I hear ya! However, Nigella and Giada are exceptions to your rant. As for Rachael Ray - Yikes, pthuey, yuck... Don't think she could she even get a job at the local Golden Arches?

I think a lot of the hosts are lovely, but the cooking is often lost and more and more, is becoming incredibly ordinary.

Nigella is always watchable but I watch her more for her love of food than for love of her food.

I'm sure RR is a sweet person, but her voice could strip paint and one day her idea of an easy dessert was to buy a cake from a store and serve it with ice cream. It is precisely having had to resort to that sort of dessert that drives people to the Food Network so they might learn something useful.

Like almost everything on television, it's all so missable.

Deary! Such language. All cooking shows are a waste of time since they invented restaurants and Peanut Butter and Cherry preserves sandwiches...bah

True. But for me the cooking shows will only cease to matter once restaurants start serving (a) peanut butter and cucumber sandwiches and (b) marmite sandwiches.
