My readers may remember my pondering the origins of my fossil, found somewhere in southwestern Ontario.
The mystery continued unsolved.
I measured and examined it at great length, in anticipation of having it properly identified.
So cats and kittens... here is the question of the day:
How old do you think my fossil is?

Well, seeing as how the Earth is only 2500 years old, I'll guess it's about 1700! ;)

The imperfect symmetry of a hive.
A thousand years old.
It looks similar to the base area of marine worm tubes. These tubes are long enough for worms to escape predators by quickly retreating to the lower part of the tube. To feed they extend colorful wispy fan-like appendages which catch floating food tidbits.
Best guess: worm tubes.
O Mistress of the Fossil - I am guessing 379,999,999 years old. Possibly from the late-Devonian period. Just a stab in the dark... but I have won a few "guess how many jellybeans in the jar" contests...
I believe this dates back to the Jurassic period. I have read that millions of years ago, southern Ontario was covered by a warm tropical sea.
Ere...er....how long? (will you keep us in suspense?)
