The cold in Canada can never just build up slowly, gradually, so you can acclimatize. Instead, I would describe it rather like a ninja, but one in a sort of ice-blue shiny jumpsuit... lurking round the corner of your front door. You step outside, believing yourself to be well dressed for the situation and... KERBLAM! - a swift kick to the head of mind-numbing cold. Of course you are compelled to inhale and your lungs - and soon after all other bits and pieces - start the freezing process.
BLOODY HELL!!!
I am safely home, the DVD fireplace is crackling in the DVD hearth, and I am cocooning for the next 36 hours at least.
