Cake time

Here is the latest cake. This was two layers of vanilla sponge, with lemon curd in between the layers, buttercream all over to form a crumb coat, and then rolled fondant all over. The little decorations were fondant too, as is the twisted border at the bottom of the cake. There was no piping or flooding involved. All it took was some cut out shapes, including my new alphabet set. I love them! I'll be using them again. And you'll notice I didn't cover the board with fondant. I just didn't feel like it. However, I missed that finished look, so I'll certainly correct that next time.

Spectacular, Ace Girl!!! Simply beautiful. I love the way that fondant gives such a smooth appearance. Wow! I could eat a piece of that yumminess right now.

Despite that fact I don't know what fondant is or was flooding does I think it only fair - being we are friends - that you share. I mean, if I had some donuts (hmmm, donuts) I probably would share with you, I think.

BPG,
What do you mean it doesn't have that finished look? It's absolutely gorgeous!! and man would I ever like to have a piece of it right now. You need to open up a bakery. Call it Pastries for the Princess.
Have a great weekend!
See ya,

I'd be afraid to eat it. Too lovely, lol.... You need to build in some deliberate flaws so us mortals won't be freaked out at the table!

Joy: Well, we all love Muriel, she's a very special person. Thanks for the visit!

Willow, Betsy, Bill, Bach, Rebecca, Suza, Dave, Dave, Dr. M... if I could have saved slices for you I would.

Bach: as for finishing... the usual look is to cover the foil cake board with fondant too, which you will see on other cakes I've shown on this blog. I didn't this time, as I've seen other people leave out that step, and the cake itself wasn't affected, but - boy - did I miss that final touch.
