In Chapter Five of his great book How to be Idle, Tom Hodgkinson addresses "Noon: the Hangover".
"I have found that the way to deal with a hangover is to abandon oneself completely to it, not to try and function like a normal person... The hangover should be embraced as a day off, time out from reality, a chance to live in the moment. Ideally, the hangover should be spent at home, with endless cups of tea, friends who are in the same state as you, a daft film like Zoolander (we watched it on New Year's Day and I cannot remember anything so hilarious)."

Kingsley Amis provides an evocative description of this undesirable state in Lucky Jim:
“He lay sprawled, too wicked to move, spewed up like a broken spider-crab on the tarry shingle of the morning. The light did him harm, but not as much as looking at things did; he resolved, having done it once, never to move his eyeballs again. A dusty thudding in his head made the scene before him beat like a pulse. His mouth had been used as a latrine by some small creature of the night, and then as its mausoleum. During the night too, he’d somehow been on a cross-country run and then been expertly beaten up by secret police. He felt bad.”
Among the joys of Scotland are the Irn Bru TV adverts, which only occasionally make it south of the border. (If you are not aware, it’s Scotland’s national soft drink, full of sugar and reputedly a brilliant hangover cure.)
That is such an evocative description, I almost feel a hangover coming on. I haven't heard of Irn Bru, but maybe Youtube carries the ads.
Ah! I just found on that is a take off of the Snowman, one of my favourite animations... it's BRILLIANT! And if I'm not mistaken, they fly over Eileen Donan castle!
